Twelve juvenile inmates broke out of the Sophia Holding Centre sometime after midnight.
The News Room understands that five of the inmates have so far been recaptured.
Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Police Force, Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan said two Police ranks were beaten by the inmates during their escape.
