Craig resident busted with ganja tells cops he bought it to make medicine

A 36-year-old resident of Craig, East Bank Demerara is in Police custody for the illegal possession of 1,700 grams of cannabis which he told ranks he planned to use to make medicine.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the resident was caught on Wednesday during routine stop and search operation in front of the Sparendaam Police Station.

The ranks conducted a search of the vehicle and found a bag containing five taped parcels of suspected cannabis inside the trunk.

“The suspect, a 36- year-old volunteer of an organization and residing at  Craig, EBD, who reportedly told the ranks that he purchased the more than seventeen hundred grams of the prohibited substance to make medicine, is being processed for court,” Police said in the statement.

He was the lone occupant of the car at the time.
