Trio arrested for illegal gun, ammo

Police have arrested three men, two of whom tried to escape, for the possession of an unlicensed pistol and two live ammunition.

Police Headquarters said ranks acted on an “intelligence-led operation” and intercepted the vehicle at Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara at around 13:45h Thursday.

“In the process of conducting a search, two of the suspects made a bold attempt to escape but were promptly detained along with the driver.”

An unlicensed pistol with two live ammunition were found in possession of one of the men, Police said.

“The vehicle is impounded and the suspects are in custody assisting with the investigation.”
