A 33-year-old Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man was stabbed to death Saturday night during an argument over a stolen cellphone.
Dead is Marlon Peters.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 21:45hrs by a 27-year-old man also from Friendship, EBD.
Reports are that a 51-year-old woman, Carletta Armstrong, who was returning home from a nearby shop witnessed the incident.
The woman said she saw Peters walking towards his house when the suspect approached him and the two began arguing over the stolen phone. The incident of the phone occurred a while ago in the interior.
Peters then proceeded towards his house when the suspect walked behind him and brutally stabbed him with a knife to the upper abdomen and two to the right upper back. After Peters fell to the ground, the suspect escaped in some nearby bushes.
He was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police said a black kitchen knife without blood stain was found nearby.
