The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has counted a total of 261 of the 2,339 ballot boxes at the end of Day Six of the national recount exercise at the Arthur Chung Conference Center.

For Monday, 53 ballot boxes were counted – 15 from Region One, 11 from Region Two, 15 from Region Three and 12 from Region Four.

At the end of Day Six, 247 Statements of Recount from the general elections were tabulated and 235 from the regional elections were tabulated.

At the end of the recount exercise, the Chief Elections Officer (CEO) Keith Lowenfield will tabulate the total from the ten electoral districts and together with a summary of the observation reports for each District, submit a report to the Commission.

According to the gazetted order which governs the recount, the Commission “shall, after deliberating on the report at paragraph 11, determine whether it should request the Chief Elections Officer to use the data compiled in accordance with paragraph 11 as the basis for the submission of a report under section 96 of the Representation of the People Act Cap 1:03.”
