A security guard of Strathspey Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara was charged on Friday for the brutal murder of his mother-in-law.
Twenty-eight-year-old Linden Junior Isaacs appeared at the Vigilance Magistrates Court via Skype before Magistrate Marissa Mittelholzer and was not required to plea to the charge.
He was remanded to prison and the matter was postponed until June 09, 2020 at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court.
On May 11, 2020 Isaacs stabbed his mother-in-law, 58-year-old Velma Pickering, to death at her South Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara home. The woman received about ten stab wounds about her body with an ice pick.
Police Headquarters said the woman managed to flee the house and ventured into her neighbour’s yard where she collapsed. She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Isaacs attempted to flee the scene but was caught by public spirited citizens.
