The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Saturday counted 49 ballot boxes bringing the total to 528 for Regions 1-5.
Of the total number of boxes counted, 500 Statements of Recount were tabulated for General Elections and 501 for Regional Elections.
According to GECOM’s Public Relations Officer Yolanda Ward, 11 boxes for Region Two were counted, 14 for Region Three, 13 for Region Four and 11 for Region Five.
There are 2,339 ballot boxes to be counted using ten work stations at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
The Commission has sought approval from the National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF) on Thursday to increase its work stations. However, at the end of Saturday, no response was received from the Task Force.
