President Granger visits recount site; meets with GECOM, CARICOM teams

Incumbent President and leader of the APNU+AFC coalition, David Granger on Sunday morning paid a visit to the Arthur Chung Conference Center where the Guyana Elections Commission is currently conducting a recount of the March 02, 2020 elections.

This is the first time the President has made a public appearance in almost two months. The President arrived at 9am and spent just over an hour.

During his visit to the recount centre, President Granger met with those persons participating in the recount exercise. He also met with the Chairperson of GECOM Justice (retired) Claudette Singh, the Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield and staff of the secretariat of GECOM.

Most importantly, the President held his first meeting with the 3-member CARICOM team currently scrutinizing the recount since they arrived two weeks ago.

Meetings are currently underway inside the conference centre but the President is expected to brief the media on his engagement at the National Aquatic Center once he concludes his meetings.
