7 new cases of COVID-19, total now stands at 124

As of May 18, 2020, Guyana recorded seven new cases of the Coronavirus, bringing the total number of known cases to 124.

The Ministry of Public Health on Monday revealed that over the last 24 hours 54 persons were tested of which seven were positive.

“Of the number of positives, 6 were males with 1 being female, a clear indication that this disease continues to spread predominantly among men,” the Health Ministry noted.

The total number of persons tested to date are 1,218 with the total number of positive cases being 124 with 1094 negative.

So far, 45 persons have recovered and the number of deaths remains at 10; this means that there are 69 active cases in institutional isolation.

Three patients remain in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
