Recount reaches 964 boxes on Day-17

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Friday completed the recount of 87 ballot boxes bringing the total to 964.

On Friday, Public Relations Officer Yolanda Ward said 19 boxes were counted for Region Three, 19 for Region Four, 14 for Region Five, 24 for Region Six and 11 for Region Seven.

There are 1,375 boxes left to be counted during the recount which started on May 06.

GECOM had previously allocated 25 days to the process but will likely have to extend the period.

This will be gazetted before the deadline.

Of the total, 928 Statements of Recount were tabulated for General Election and 927 for Regional Election.
