Man rescued from elevator at recount site

A man who was trapped in the elevator which malfunctioned at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre -the venue being used for the recount of all ballots cast on March 2 – has been rescued.

Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Yolanda Ward told the News Room that the man was rescued and “is doing ok.” She did not reveal the identity of the person.

Just after 19:00hrs on Monday, an ambulance, a fire tender and a police vehicle rushed to the Centre after they were called for an emergency. After about 20 minutes, the vehicles departed the conference centre.
