As of May 26, 2020, Guyana recorded two new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 139.

The total also includes 11 deaths and 62 recoveries which means that there are 66 active COVID-19 cases in institutional isolation, including two persons in the COVID-19 ICU.

To date, 1,499 persons have been tested of which 1,360 are negative.

On Monday, the Ministry of Public Health revealed that the epicenter remains Region #4 specifically Georgetown, closely followed by Region # 3 and Region #10.

“It must be highlighted that even with the curfew in effect we have witnessed a spike in the number of cases,” the Ministry noted.

Six women who live at the Palms Geriatric Home in Brickdam, Georgetown, recently tested positive for COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases at the Palms to 12, including one death.

Four patients had tested positive early in May along with one Patient Care Assistant. The first set of patients were all from the male ward but included one female who visited the infirmary a few times.
