The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Wednesday completed the recount of 93 ballot boxes which is the highest number since the recount started on May 6.
The total number of ballot boxes counted so far is 1,383; there are 956 more boxes to be counted.
At the end of Day-22, 19 boxes were recounted for Region Three, 22 for Region Four, 19 for Region Six, 9 for Region Seven, 11 for Region Eight and 13 for Region Nine.
The count for Regions One, Two and Five are completed while Region Ten – the last Region – is yet to commence.
So far, 1, 337 Statements of Recount were tabulated for the general election and 1,336 for the regional.
The 25-day timeline set for the recount comes to an end on Saturday, May 30 and GECOM is considering an extension to June 16 to complete the remaining ballot boxes.
The national recount initially commenced with 10 recount stations at the Arthur Chung Conference Center but this was increased by two following the slow pace of some counting agents.
