With the recount and tabulation completed for District Five, the certificate for the District has been signed off by all parties except APNU+AFC which continues to have issues with the use of the words “valid votes” because of its claims that the names of persons dead or out of the country were marked off as having voted.

The certificate shows that APNU+AFC gained five extra votes in the District when compared to the original declaration.

The tabulation completed on Wednesday showed that the APNU+AFC received 14,502 votes in District Five when compared to the 14,497 previously declared by the District’s Returning Officer.

The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) gained nine additional votes.

The initial number from the Returning Officer showed the PPP gained 18,317 while the recount shows 18,326 votes.

One other party which contested the elections –A New and United Guyana –also gained one vote in the recount.

At the Regional level, the APNU+AFC received 14,472 votes –a reduction from the 14,475 received in the previous declaration.

The PPP/C received 18,286 votes in the regional election, which is an increase from the 18,263 previously declared.
