866 ballot boxes outstanding in recount process


At the end of Day 23 of the recount process, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) completed the recount of 90 ballot boxes bringing the overall total to 1,473 and leaving just 866 to be completed.

The Commission completed Regions Three and Seven on Thursday and allocated two of those recount stations to Regions Ten and Four. Region Four which has the largest number of boxes outstanding –527 –now has four counting stations.

The last of eight boxes were recounted for Region Three, 21 for Region Four, 24 for Region Six, the last four for Region Seven, 14 for Region Eight, 11 for Region Nine and the first eight for Region Ten on Thursday.

Region Ten has a total of 125 boxes to be counted.

GECOM tabulated 1,423 of the Statements of Recount for General Elections thus far and 1,439 for Regional.
