The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has a total of 784 ballot boxes that remain to be counted. At the end of Day 24 of the recount process, GECOM completed the recount of 82 ballot boxes bringing the overall total to 1,555.
There are five Regions being counted. Those are Regions 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10.
The elections body completed 25 boxes for Region Four, 24 for Region Six, nine for Region Eight, 11 for Region Nine and 13 for Region Ten on Friday.
GECOM tabulated 1,521 of the Statements of Recount for General Elections thus far and 1,491 for Regional.
Gecom has extended the 25-day deadline which concludes Saturday and the Chief Elections Officer has to submit his report to the Commission on or before June 13.
