The People’s Government of Fuzhou China, through the Chinese Embassy, on Friday donated 30,000 face masks to the Mayor and Councillors of Georgetown.
A statement from City Hall noted that the masks will be distributed to essential workers at the City Engineer, Solid Waste and Public Health departments.
The statement further noted that the City Council, since the outbreak of COVID-19, has taken measures to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.
The Council along with the Guyana Fire Service has been routinely sanitizing the municipal markets and its environs.
It has also implemented fines for persons who do not wear masks when entering the markets.
