Guyana did not record any new COVID-19 case from the additional 22 persons tested as of June 10, 2020; the number of known cases remains at 156, including 12 deaths and the number of recoveries has now increased to 92.

This means there are 52 active COVID-19 cases in institutional isolation, including one patient in the ICU and six persons in institutional quarantine.

To date, the total number of persons tested is 1, 876 with the number of negative cases being 1,720.

“Our spotlight remains on the Region of the Americas. We continue to witness an increase in new cases as well as in the number of deaths.

My fellow Guyanese, you are cognizant of the contributory factors that lead to a flattening of the curve – Physical distancing, Cough and sneeze etiquette, handwashing and most importantly staying at home.

“I encourage you to keep spreading this message in your communities so that we can arrest the spread of COVID-19 and begin to reshape our lives with some measure of normalcy,” said Dr Ertenisa Hamilton, Director of Primary Health Care.
