A 27-year-old old labourer of Kildonan Village, East Berbice Corentyne appeared at the Whim Magistrate’s Court on Thursday charged with the rape of a woman in Region Six.
Grafton Clarke is accused of committing the crime on June 4; he appeared before Magistrate Renita Singh and was not required to plea to the charge.
The labourer was subsequently placed on $100,000 bail.
According to reports, on the day in question, the 23-year-old victim was led to a deserted area where two men held her at knifepoint while Clarke raped her.
Clarke is slated to return to court on June 29.
