Chief Elections Officer (CEO) of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Keith Lowenfield is expected to submit his report to the Chairman Justice (rt’d) Claudette Singh by noon today, according to Public Relations Officer Yolanda Ward.

“I am seeing reports on social media that the CEO has submitted his report to the Chair.

“I am not sure what is your source of information. I am in contact with the Chair and she has indicated that the report has not yet been submitted.

“The report is expected to be submitted by noon. When she indicates, I will update accordingly,” Ward said to members of the media in the GECOM Media Whatsapp group.

The recount process concluded on June 9 with the certification of District Four results; the last ballot box was counted on June 7 after which the CEO had to prepare his report on or before June 13.

According to the gazetted recount order, the matrices for the recount of the ten (10) Electoral Districts have to be tabulated by the CEO and shall be submitted in a report, together with a summary of the observation reports for each District, to the Commission.

The Commission, after deliberating on the report, will then determine whether it should request the Chief Elections Officer to use the data compiled as the basis of a final report.

The order states that the Commission will declare the winner three days after receiving the final report from the CEO.
