Traffic ranks trained, certified to use speed guns, breathalyzer

The Guyana National Bureau of Standards, in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force Friday provided training to certifying officers of the force in areas related to metrology (the science of measurements), the International System of Units, calibration and use of speed guns and breathalyzers, as well as the inspection of tires.

The program is being held at the Police Officer’s Training Centre, Camp Street and is a weeklong training targeting thirty-six (36) traffic ranks from the various regions. This provides them with training in Licensing and Certifying; the GNBS being involved on the penultimate day to provide training in the abovementioned areas.

The information was provided to the traffic ranks by GNBS Officers from the Legal Metrology, Product Compliance and Marketing and Communications Department. (Press release from GNBS)
