Hit and run accident: one dead, another in critical condition

Investigators are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the identities of two men who were struck down by a car on the Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara Sunday night.

The driver fled the scene; the accident occurred at about 19:00h, Police Headquarters said in a statement.

One of the victims was discovered motionless on the northern edge of the road while the other was found in a semi-conscious condition on the grass parapet.

Police said both of them were seen with severe injuries about their heads and bodies.

Debris of a vehicle were seen scattered on the northern side of the road.

The men were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by Police ranks where one of them was pronounced dead on arrival and the other admitted in the Accident and Emergency Unit.

“The Guyana Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the victims and for any information that will trace the vehicle involved and the apprehension of the driver.”
