Peacemaker killed after intervening in fight between husband and wife

A Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara man was stabbed to death Sunday afternoon after intervening in a fight between a man and his wife.

The dead man was only identified as Rakesh. Police Headquarters said the incident occurred at about 16:30h at Turtle Creek Landing, Mazaruni River.

Police said Rakesh was stabbed multiple times about his body and neck with a knife by a man identified as ‘Niggie’. Police are currently looking for the suspect.

The News Room understands that Niggie and his wife were involved in a fight and when Rakesh tried to part them, he was stabbed.

The body is presently in-transit to Bartica. Investigators are also en route to the scene.
