A 27-year-old construction worker was shot dead in the wee hours of Monday during a brawl at Agricola, East Bank Demerara.

Dead is Tyron Duesberry of William Street, Kitty Georgetown.

The News Room understands that the shooting occurred sometime between 12:30h and 01:00h Monday at Brutus Street, Agricola.

Acting Commander Senior Superintendent, Phillip Azore told the News Room that Duesberry, his female partner, a male driver of the car and another female were passing through Agricola when they observed a gathering and stopped.

It is believed the ‘gathering’ was a party; it is alleged that the friends joined the party and subsequently left but turned back when they noticed a brawl and heard explosions.

Shortly after, Duesberry told his friends he had been shot and there was blood oozing from his mouth.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It is unclear where exactly the man was shot but the back windshield of the vehicle was shattered.

There are currently no suspects. Investigators are still canvassing the area and questioning persons, but have so far come up empty-handed.

The driver of the car along with the two females are also being questioned by the Police. Commander Azore could not state if they will be charged for breaching the COVID-19 curfew.
