Family killed in Cummings Lodge fire
A family of three was killed in a fire which destroyed a huge apartment building in Sixth Street, Cummings Lodge, Georgetown Saturday evening.
Dead are 40-year-old Beverly Miller, her 46-year-old husband Marvin Lewis and their 14-year-old son Dawall Ifill.
Firefighters found the bodies hugging each other after extinguishing the blaze.
Relatives at the scene told the News Room that the family’s apartment was heavily grilled and so it is presumed they were trapped inside when the fire started.
The News Room understands that the family moved into the apartment in March this year. The apartment building is located next to the Cummings Lodge Secondary School. The family lived in the lower flat with others.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and the News Room will provide more details as it becomes available.
