Gunmen invade cellphone store at Mon Repos
Two men on Friday afternoon invaded the Celltronicx store in Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara and escaped with 25 cellphones and cash amounting to a total of $1M.
The incident occurred at around 14:30h.
The owner of the store, Imran Ali, told the News Room that $300,000 in cash was stolen. He said the two men entered the store and pretended to be customers.
CCTV footage shared with the News Room showed one of the suspects held a female staff at gunpoint before escorting her further into the store.
There, he placed her and a male employee on the floor as his accomplice entered the office.
He can also be seen gun-butting the woman.
The second suspect opened a red bag while the gunman proceeded to give him cellphones from the glass case and cash to place in the bag.
Police are investigating.
