Brathwaite’s XI 112-7 after DaSilva’s unbeaten 133
Reserve wicketkeeper/batsman Joshua DaSilva converted his overnight 60 to an unbeaten 133 on day three of the West Indies intra-squad, four-day game at the Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday.
DaSilva batted through the innings, his knock spanning 249 balls, as Jason Holder’s XI, resuming on 120-5, ended their innings at 272. DaSilva’s knock included 17 fours and he formed solid lower-order partnerships to galvanise Holder’s XI innings.
DaSilva and Raymon Reifer (22) added 71 for the sixth wicket, while in the company of Alzarri Joseph (38), the seventh wicket partnership yielded 77. Preston McSween, another reserve player, claimed 3-28, while fast bowler Chemar Holder had 2-35.
Kraigg Brathwaite’s XI then imploded spectacularly, slipping on 49-5 in 16 overs, before recovering to 112-7 by the close.
Kyle Mayers is leading the recovery with an unbeaten 40, while Shannon Gabriel has taken 3-34.
