Guyana records 13th COVID-19 death

Guyana this week recorded its 13th death from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The 42-year-old male died at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Monday.

Secretary of the National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF) Imran Khan confirmed the death to the media on Wednesday afternoon.

He did not indicate when the patient was tested and whether he died in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The News Room subsequently confirmed that the patient was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital and complained of shortness of breath.

Guyana recorded its 12th death on May 30, 2020. The 78-year-old man, John Damon, was a former patient of the Palms Geriatric Home died at the COVID-19 ICU.

As of July 1, the country recorded 248 cases including 116 recoveries.
