The majority of Guyana’s COVID-19 cases are from Regions One and Seven and two more persons tested positive from 34 additional tests were conducted within the past 24 hours.

The overall total known cases is now at 250 including 14 deaths and 117 recoveries. This means that the total active cases in institutional isolation is 120 including one person in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

There are 16 persons in institutional quarantine. Guyana recorded two deaths from COVID-19 within the past two days.

In delivering the daily update on Thursday, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Karen Gordon- Boyle pleaded with citizens to comply with the COVID-19 measures in place to contain the spread of the deadly disease.

“Stop and spare a thought not only for your safety but that of your family, neighbours and residents in the communities.”

Dr Gordon-Boyle reiterated calls for returning Guyanese to adhere to their agreement to be quarantined at home for seven days.

She said that persons are still going out in the public despite making a commitment to stay at home.
