Supporters of the incumbent APNU+AFC mounted several peaceful protests across the country Monday ahead of a ruling by Guyana’s final appellate court, the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) in the latest elections case.

The protesters were quickly dispersed by ranks of the Guyana Police Force in keeping with the COVID-19 measures against large gatherings.

Protest actions were held in New Amsterdam Region Six; Buxton/Friendship, Vigilance on the East Coast of Demerara, Mandela Avenue and Sheriff Street in Georgetown and in Linden, Region Ten.

The CCJ will rule in the case brought before it seeking to quash the Court of Appeal decision to interpret Article 177 (2) of the Constitution to say the party for which “more votes are cast” should mean “more ‘valid’ votes are cast” in determining the winner of the elections.

The CCJ also has to determine whether it has jurisdiction to hear the appeal and whether the Court of Appeal had jurisdiction to hear the case.

Police Commander of Linden, Senior Superintendent Hugh Winter told the News Room that the group of about 16 protesters did not receive permission to protest.

Some of the protesters had cards that read: “Respect our Sovereignty”, “No Foreign Interference” and “The CCJ must respect Guyana’s Constitution.”

The CCJ on June 23 granted an injunction blocking the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) from issuing a declaration of the elections results until it hands down final orders relating to the application filed by Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo.

If their leaders are lying what do you expect for their followers. They do not want foreign interference yet most of them have relatives in the same foreign countries receiving benefits from the same foreign countries. Mr. Nagamotoo came to the USA to fix his diseased heart and others as well.

So what if CCJ said no jurisdiction? What if the COA says “only valid votes”. GUESS WHAT ? ONLY VALID VOTES IS ALL THAT WAS COUNTED IN THE SOP AND THE SOR’S AND THE PPP WON BY 15,000. NEITHER COURT CAN SAY LOWENFIELD HAS THE RIGHT TO CHANGE WHAT IS A VALID VOTE OR NOT. THE VOTES ARE CERTIFIED BY THE APPROPRIATE EMPLOYEES ON E-DAY.

Listen boss, these placards that the protesters are showing are backward.1 if Granger and Apnu/AFC were really decent or condone any decency, they would have conceded the election by now.Everyone the world over knows they lost the election. But because of fraud and indecency they are trying to delay the obvious outcome showing they lost heavily to PPPC. 2 the caricom states can’t have a pariah country like what Apnu/AFC is forcing upon Guyana in the region. They have to force Guyana to be in compliance with the other democracies around. From what the Apnu/AFC is showing the world, the other democracies close by cannot roll over and play dead. They have to exert pressure on Apnu/AFC to bring them back in line with the other democracies. This is not interfering but rather trying to prevent Guyana from becoming a rogue nation by the hands of Apnu/AFC. These protesters don’t understand this because they are being brainwashed by Apnu/AFC who are not decent but are really elections thiefs.I only hope the CCJ in its ruling on Wednesday saves Guyana. Also to repeat all votes were valid as explained by Lowenfield when he showed how the Guyana electoral system is so tamper proof owing to the well placed checks and counter checks. So more votes meaning more valid votes is a god send given.

Good night,. This is the first time I would have witnessed such ignorance. That of course will not benefit the people of the country as a whole. When ever someone has a tendency to deny and abuse what the same person would have conformed lately. It shows something like eating up your conciousness. Will the vast majority. Accept and live with this garbage. Come on man, be grownups ,for the tides will ebb and flow

the ruling party the APNU have its protesters protesting when they lost by 15,000 votes this tell you something about how black dictatorships all over include Africa remains in power. This guy loses like but does not want to give up power period. He is an army man who are strongmen who try to do this thing all over the world. Indos have suffered this thing all over the world by these polished dictators with lies and fraud to steal the election and the people that lost protesting black lives matter and no other race matters is ridiculous. Indos are 1.5 billion worldwide and we believe in justice and democracy not lies and deceit as this power-grabbing Granger is trying to do. You lost to give up now the people know we have a mobster in power
