The News Room understands that Lowe, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara received severe injuries to the brain and lungs. His wife is six-months pregnant and was too distraught to speak with the media.

His brother, Kunch Bissessar told the News Room that his brother worked with Home Designs, the construction company hired to demolish the building, for two years.

“I see the building on Facebook and how it fall and I didn’t know it was my brother dead.  Until 6 o clock yesterday afternoon I get a phone call it was my brother,” he said.

The three other men involved in the incident received minor injuries. At the time the building collapsed they were sitting under it. The building was in the demolition stage for the past few days.

Public Relations Officer at Banks DIH, Troy Peters, had told the News Room that they are working with the authorities to ascertain the cause of the accident.
