Several arrested during Police drug raid

Seven men were arrested this week during two drug busts at Kurupukari, Linden/Lethem Road and Beteverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

Police ranks in Lethem on Thursday stopped and searched a lorry in front of the Kurupukari Outpost and found 10,026 grams of suspected cannabis concealed in an icebox.

The driver of the vehicle and another person were arrested.

Meanwhile, ranks conducting a roadblock in front of the Beterverwagting Police Station on Sunday last, searched a car with five males and found a haversack containing 1.571 grams of suspected cannabis in the trunk.

The men were arrested and subsequently released on bail. Police said the Director of Public Prosecutions only advised that the driver of the car be charged.
