Ten Guyanese Referee Assessors have benefited from a two-day virtual workshop held for Assessors and conducted by Guyanese Head of the Bahamas Refereeing Department and Concacaf Instructor/Assessor, Dianne Ferreira-James.

The workshop, held on July 6-7, was the first in a series of training programmes, which will be hosted by the GFF to enhance the competencies of Assessors and Instructors.

Following the conclusion of the session, participant Natasha Lewis commented on its value: “The workshop brought clarity to some concepts and increased my knowledge base. Consequently, I will be able to provide an enhanced quality of assessment for Referees that will aid in their personal development and quality of local officiating.”

Among the areas covered in the training, which included Assessors from the Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Islands, were the Role of Assessors, the assessments process and grading Referees.

The areas of focus for the upcoming programmes include Fitness, Nutrition, Safeguarding Children in Football, Sexual Harassment, Integrity and Incident Report Writing.
