Fire destroys house of Essequibo security guard
A fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the wooden flat house of 27-year-old security guard, Kumar Mohamed at Riverstown, Essequibo Coast early Sunday.
The fire occurred sometime between 06:30h and 08:30h. The News Room understands that Mohamed lived alone and is now counting his losses of some $1.4M.
A refrigerator, laptop computer, a bed, gas stove, television set and other valuables were all destroyed in the fire.
The News Room understands that by the time the Guyana Fire Service arrived the house was already destroyed.
According to Mohamed, he left for work about 06:30h and received a call from his uncle two hours later that his house was on fire.
An investigation is ongoing.
