Teen knifed to death during argument

An old feud between two friends turned deadly on Tuesday when 19-year-old Barneth McKenzie was stabbed in his abdomen during an argument at a shop in Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The 18-year-old suspect, a labourer of 11^th Street Paradise/ Dazzel Housing Scheme has been arrested.

Police Headquarters revealed that McKenzie, who also resided in the same village and the suspect were not on “speaking terms” but were always in the habit of threatening each other “over a misunderstanding.”

At about 16:50h on Tuesday, McKenzie was at a shop when the suspect showed up and an argument ensued.

Police said the suspect was armed with a knife and stabbed McKenzie in his abdomen.

The young man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
