Four in police custody for possession of cannabis

Police have arrested a male and a female at Mabaruma, Region One and two males at Ituni, Region Seven for possession of cannabis.
In a short statement, the Guyana Police Force said at about 14:00h on Wednesday, police intercepted a motor car at 31 miles, Ituni Road.
A search unearthed 61 parcels of suspected cannabis which amounted 9,071kg concealed in the panel of the doors and also in a spare wheel.
Two males were taken into police custody.
Meanwhile, at about 21:00h on Wednesday, ranks visited a shop at Kumaka Water Front, Mabaruma, North West District and conducted a search; they found 139 grams of suspected cannabis.
The male owner of the business and a female vendor are in custody pending charges, police said.
Investigations are ongoing.
