Man killed in Montrose accident

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident that claimed the life of a man Saturday afternoon on the Montrose Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is Trevor Mangal, known as ‘Whistle’ who resided at Crown Dam, Industry ECD.

The accident occurred at around 17:15h and involved five vehicles.

Mangal was an occupant of the car PXX 2522 and reports indicate that the driver was racing with another car when the accident occurred.

Others were injured in the accident and were rushed to the hospital.

Police Headquarters in a subsequent statement noted that PXX 2522 collided with the right side rear of motor van GWW 6244 which was proceeding west along the northern lane.

The driver of the van then lost control and collided with the parked vehicles GLL 4062,  PWW 6978 and BYY 4486.  Police further noted that PXX 2522 spun several times and then slammed into an electrical pole which is in the center of the median.

Mangal was in the passenger seat; he was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was ronounced dead on arrival.
