12 Guyanese medical students graduate in Cuba amidst COVID-19

Twelve Guyanese students have successfully obtained their medical certificate and graduated from the University of Medical Sciences of Pinar del Rio, University of Medical Sciences of Las Tunas, University of Medical Sciences of Matanzas and the University of Havana in Cuba amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Congratulations were extended to the students from the Guyana Embassy in Havana.

“The Guyana Embassy is very proud of the academic achievements of the recently graduated students and we look forward to their service to Guyana, the Embassy noted.

Eight of the medical students obtained their Medical Certificates are:

Dr. Ayeshia Boodie

Dr. Keisha Nelson

Dr. Shenice Dowding

Dr. Dominic Heyliger

Dr. Andy Persaud

Dr. Devaughn Brathwaite

Dr. Monish Persaud

Dr. Abid Ali

Four Post-graduate students have successfully completed their specialist programs from the University of Havana. They are:

Dr. Stephen Foo – Neurosurgery

Dr. Allan Outridge – Cardiology

Dr. Nikita McKenizie – Dermatology

Dr. Meenawattie Rajkumar – Psychiatry
