Garbage collector killed in horrible East Coast accident

A 45-year-old Garbage Collector employed with Puran Brothers Disposal was on Tuesday morning killed after a canter crashed into him at Vryheid’s lust public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is Xavier Isfehani of Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

The accident occurred at about 05:30hrs; Isfehani was working behind the truck at the time.

A resident said she heard a loud impact and when she opened her door and looked out, she saw the accident. Both of the man’s legs were severed on impact.

CCTV footage shows the canter was speeding along the public road.

The News Room understands that the driver of the canter fell asleep.

The driver and a passenger in the front seat of the canter were pinned inside; the Guyana Fire Service took about an hour to cut the canter to get the men out.

One of the men suffered a broken leg and other severe injuries to the abdomen. They were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
