Two trawlers collide into Demerara Harbour Bridge

Two fishing trawlers owned by Pritipaul Singh Investment Inc collided with the Demerara Harbour Bridge Wednesday afternoon.

General Manager of the Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation (DHBC) Rawlston Adams told the News Room that no major damage was done to the bridge.

He said two anchors on the bridge were damaged but assured that this will be rectified on Thursday.

The incident occurred sometime between 15:30h and 16:00h Wednesday. The News Room understands that one of the trawlers was being towed by the other and somehow came loose and drifted into the bridge.

The incident has not affected the free flow of traffic.
