A 30-year-old man is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was struck in the head by a stray bullet when he left his home to witness a fight among residents a short distance away Friday morning.
Marlon Fordyce of Albert Street #79 Village was first taken to the Skeldon Hospital and then transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital before being admitted to the Georgetown Hospital for surgery.
Fordyce’s partner, Dolly Vanderstoop told the News Room that he was at home when he noticed a crowd at the end of the street and he decided to investigate despite her pleas to stay at home and assist her with the laundry.
The eight months pregnant woman is now praying and hoping that he can recover from the surgery.
“He see the crowd up the road and seh he going and see what going on. I tell he look, just stay home don’t go and get yourself involved and he said don’t worry he won’t take long. So he jump on the bicycle and gone,” his partner said.
A short while later, she heard screaming and then saw persons running towards her shouting, “Marlon got shoot!”
Police are hunting for the suspects involved in the fight.
