Newly elected President of neighbouring Suriname Chandrikapersad “Chan” Santokhi has confirmed his attendance at the inauguration ceremony for Guyana’s ninth Executive President, Dr Irfaan Ali.
Santokhi will arrive in Guyana Saturday morning with his wife and the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister Albert Ramdin in time for the inauguration slated to commence at 10:00h at the National Cultural Centre.
Santokhi and his delegation will remain in Guyana until Sunday. He will use the time to hold bilateral talks with the new Irfaan Ali government to discuss areas of interest.
Meanwhile, an envoy of the Barbados Government will also attend the event and will engage in bilateral talks with President Ali.
