Minister Robeson Benn hands over COVID-19 PPEs to Guyana Police Force

The Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Robeson Benn today handed over a quantity of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Guyana Police Force to aid the fight Against COVID-19. The Equipment which includes the K-95 Masks, protective coveralls, gloves, face shields and protective goggles, were received by the Ministerial Task Force on Trafficking in Persons in the form of a donation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to aid frontline officers from the Guyana Police Force’s Trafficking in Persons Unit (CID), and other departments who are actively involved in the fight against trafficking in persons.

After recognizing the potential health risks posed to officers who interface with victims and perpetrators of human trafficking, the Ministerial Task Force on Trafficking in Persons saw it necessary to insure that all precautions are taken to prevent the spread of COVID -19.

Distributions of PPE were also made to the Ministry of Social Protection’s Counter

– Trafficking in Persons Unit, and to a number of TIP Shelters and Transitional Facilities for the use in activities related to combating trafficking in persons and assisting in protecting victims of trafficking during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
