The positive COVID-19 cases in Region Seven, Cuyuni-Mazaruni continues to rise. As of August 09, 2020 the Region recorded 135 confirmed cases. After mass random testing in Bartica on Sunday, 94 persons are awaiting test results.
Bartica was recently identified as a high-risk location in the Region. The News Room understands that data gathered from the Regional Health Emergency Operations Committee (HEOC) indicated that the positive cases in the Region traced back to Bartica.
The Regional Democratic Council in a statement on Monday revealed the areas affected;
– Bartica – 15 (12 recoveries, 1 active, 2 deaths)
– Aranka – 49
– Devil’s Hole – 23
– Big Hope (Aranka Area) – 2
– Batavia – 19
– New Found Out – 9
– Agatash – 4
– Melangree – 5
– River’s View – 1
The RDC stated that no new cases were reported in the Upper or Middle Mazaruni.
“We continue to remind residents of the region not to let your guard down,” the RDC stated.
