Three reportedly dead, several injured in ECD accident

Three persons are reportedly dead and several others are injured after a Toyota Allion motorcar collided with a canter truck on the Felicity Public Road, East Coast Demerara Wednesday afternoon.

The car, which was heading towards Georgetown, had four persons including the driver. Two persons from the car and one person from the canter died.

Other persons from both vehicles sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital.

The News Room understands that the car suffered a blowout and as a result flipped several times and ended up in the lane of the canter on the opposite side of the road.

The Guyana Fire Service had to cut the car to remove the bodies of two persons.

The identities of those who died have not yet been released.

The dead persons have not yet been identified. Police and paramedics are on the scene and the News Room will provide more information as it becomes available.

    Speed limits should be enforced. Driving is a privileged and should not be abused. Respect the road and yield to pedestrian crossings.
