President, Cabinet ministers test negative for COVID-19 except one

President Irfaan Ali and all of his Cabinet Ministers except one have tested negative for COVID-19.

President Ali had his entire Cabinet test for Covid-19 on Wednesday after it was revealed that the Foreign Minister Hugh Todd had tested positive.

On Thursday night, the News Room confirmed that Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Oneidge Walrond Allicock tested positive.

The government is encouraging all Guyanese to follow all protocols and guidelines on COVID-19 to prevent infection.

Minister Allicock has since gone into self-isolation in keeping with public health guidelines.

“The Government of Guyana would like to urge all Guyanese to take all the necessary precautions to protect themselves and family from COVID 19. We recommend that you continue to practice social distancing, hand sanitation and wearing your face mask,” Dr Frank Anthony, the Minister of Health said in a statement.
