Surinamese President Chandrikapersad Santokhi, his Foreign Minister Albert Ramdin and others who visited Guyana at the weekend have tested negative for COVID-19.

The delegation conducted the test after coming in contact with Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Todd who was tested positive for the deadly virus Wednesday.

Todd’s positive result has sent the entire Guyana Cabinet into quarantine.

He came into contact with the Surinamese President last weekend when the delegation visited and attended President Irfaan Ali’s inauguration ceremony at the National Cultural Center.

Todd and Ramdin also hosted a joint press conference at State House on Sunday last.

Surinamese media reported Thursday that “all test results are negative.”

The Waterkant news in Suriname added that the President and his team have resumed their work schedule according to protocols.

The agency added that the President’s schedule is adjusted and further implemented with due observance of the applicable COVID-19 protocols.

Todd’s positive results forced President Ali, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony, Attorney General Anil Nandlall and other Ministers to get tested.

Their results are pending.
