A post mortem examination conducted on the body of 33-year-old Dexter Weekes found that he died from a gunshot injury to the head, Police Headquarters said in a statement Friday.

“A warhead was extracted from the brains which was enveloped and sent to ballistic. The body was then handed over to relatives for burial,” the Police noted in a statement.

The autopsy was conducted by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.

The News Room had reported that Weekes, a gold miner of ‘A’ Field Sophia Georgetown, allegedly committed suicide on Thursday in Region Eight.

Police said that the man’s wife woke up at about 05:30h and saw Weekes consuming a liquid substance which appeared to be alcohol.

According to the Police, the wife claimed she was having a conversation with Weekes when she heard a loud explosion and saw a firearm next to his body. Weekes was left lying motionless, Police stated.
