Army Chief visits troops at Eteringbang

The Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Brigadier Godfrey Bess urged soldiers stationed at Eteringbang, Region Seven to continue following the COVID-19 measures to protect themselves as they serve and protect during the pandemic.

The Chief of Staff along with Commanding Officer of the One Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel, Lloyd Souvenir and Staff Officer General, Lieutenant Colonel Sheldon Howell and GDF medical doctor Dr Ivor Semple visited the area on Wednesday last.

“You are giving exemplary service while enduring the sacrifice of being separated from your families and loved ones. I thank you.

“With the number COVID-19 infections and deaths increasing, you must protect yourselves. Wear your masks and practice social distancing at all times. Remember too, to sanitise your surroundings and wash your hands frequently,” the Chief of Staff said to the soldiers, a statement on the GDF Facebook page noted.

The Chief of Staff was also briefed on the security and operations ongoing at Eteringbang.
