    Guyana’s COVID-19 cases continued to climb with 44 new cases recorded on August 22, bringing the total number of known cases to 925.

    There are now 11 persons in the COVID-19 ICU and the number of deaths is at 31.

    A total of 383 persons are in home isolation and 74 are in institutional isolation.

    Region Four continues to record the highest number of cases -297; Region Seven now has 179 confirmed cases and Region Nine with 171.

    Region One has seen sporadic cases within the last few days and the total now stands at 132. Region Ten has 65 cases, followed by Region Three with 51, Region Eight has 12 cases, Region Six has nine and Region Two recorded seven cases while Region Five has recorded its second case.

    To date, 6, 760 tests have been conducted.

    The Ministry of Health’s dashboard on Saturday listed the number of recoveries at 426 but on Friday it was 433. Authorities are still to provide clarifications to the News Room on this.
